At AMC Source, we believe advocacy is essential to sustaining the strength, relevance, and impact of the nonprofit and association sectors. That’s why our Co-Presidents, Debra S. Nolan, MS, CAE, IOM, and Gregory Brooks, actively participate in federal advocacy efforts—meeting with lawmakers in Washington, DC regularly to represent the interests of the associations we serve.
Our engagement includes annual participation in ASAE’s Legislative Fly-In, where association leaders come together to:
Inform Hill staff about how associations strengthen America’s economy
Advocate for workforce development legislation like the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act
Learn practical tools to enhance advocacy and public policy programs
This year, the stakes are especially high. With major tax breaks from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act set to expire in 2025, lawmakers are preparing sweeping tax legislation that could profoundly impact tax-exempt organizations. Some proposals would apply a 21% corporate tax rate to all non-donation revenue, including membership dues, sponsorships, investment income, and educational program fees.
To defend against these threats, AMC Source has joined ASAE’s Tax Reform Coalition, which is mobilizing a unified response to ensure nonprofits and associations are not unfairly burdened by new tax policies.
ASAE is investing $1 million in strategic advocacy and communications counsel—and organizations like ours are stepping up to support the effort. At AMC Source, we see advocacy as more than representation. It’s an investment in the future of professional societies and mission-driven organizations that make a measurable difference in the lives of their members and communities.
By protecting the policies that allow associations to operate, educate, and elevate their industries, we help create the conditions for long-term success.
